Who can try out?

Tryouts are open to all students entering grades 9-12, for the 2023-2024 school year at Heights HS. 

2023-2024 Middle school students (6th-8th) at Hogg & Hamilton are welcome to tryout and perform with the Heights team as well.

HISD students in 6th-8th grade are encouraged to attend our spring middle school camps. Check it out here.

What to wear?

You will want to wear solid color, preferably black, dance or workout/athletic clothing. As long as it is comfortable to move in and school appropriate you are fine. An example would be leggings or yoga pants with a comfortably fit t-shirt. The most important thing is that you are comfortable to stretch and move. Athletic shoes are highly encouraged, as you will be moving around. Flats, platforms, 'slide' sandals, skate and any other type of fashion shoe is not recommended. If it is all you have, please be prepared to work out in comfortable socks (we will be indoors). 

Face masks are encouraged, but not requred.

Hair & Makeup?

For clinics and auditions, you will want to have your hair pulled back and out of your face at all times. You are not expected to wear a specific type of makeup. You may choose to apply face makeup or not. Earrings, bracelets, rings, and necklaces are highly discouraged for safety reasons with our flags. Watches are permitted, but if they become damaged during the learning and manipulation of flag items we are not responsible.
